ANTIQUE BOX AND SEWING NOTIONS ~ PATTERNS
This is an antique box my grandmother kept some of her sewing trims in. I believe it is an old candy box containing several old smocking patterns, packages of tiny ric rac in several colors, seam binding in a variety of colors, blanket binding, white woven edge ribbon (from Sears)and some small pieces of various other trims. In addition, there are two organdy embroidered appliques from Switzerland. The box is somewhat soiled on the outside, but, otherwise in good condition, considering its age.
My grandmother was born in 1893 and died in 1983. I have had this box of notions since my mother's passing 11 years ago. I had thought I might eventually use some of them, but appears, at this point, probably not. I begrudgingly part with it, but perhaps someone with an appreciation for sewing and things from the past will enjoy having it. All contents of the box are in excellent condition and have not been disturbed since being removed from my grandmother's home.
Thank you for looking.
